Project Kaiserslautern

At the central sewage treatment plant in Kaiserslautern/Germany, the TerraNova® Ultra process was put into operation in April 2010, representing the first industrial implementation of HTC technology in Europe. By the end of 2012, the sewage sludge of six sewage treatment plants in the region was treated to evaluate the technology. In collaboration with scientific institutions such as the Institute of Chemical Engineering of the University of Kaiserslautern, the Institute for Urban Water Management of RWTH Aachen University and the Institute for Applied Material Flow Management at the University of Trier the process efficiency and nutrient recovery was continuously optimized.
